A PR tie in that looks just a bit too much like Xmas decorations is to fill Carnaby Street with neon glowing lyrics from Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

Carnaby Street will see Queen’s crest feature upon the Carnaby arch and a spectacle of Freddy Mercury’s lyrics displayed as neon lights running the length of the street.

As part of the Queen tie-in, an unspecified number of shops will have Queen-inspired goods for sale, while a pop-up store will open on the 10th October — before the neon lights go up.

As the display will look uncomfortably like a Christmas decoration, they plan to add Christmas decorations later on, and then it’ll just look like the movie sponsored the decorations.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you

Do you know the date the Decorations will go up for this? I will be in London from Oct. 16 thru Oct. 25. Would love to see this. Thanks.
