The bookings pages apparently open tomorrow (Thur 18th Aug) for next month’s annual Open House Weekend.

You wont know that if you look at their website, which just says “mid-August“, and apparently if you ordered their guide, then it would arrive before the website goes live, and mine hasn’t arrived — but their Twitter feed told someone who asked that it will open tomorrow.

I think this might be called a stealth launch?

Also, I think this is now the fourth year in the row where the website has gone live before the printed guide has been sent out. Which is increasingly irksome.

A few people have however been in touch, and provided the list of venues which will be pre-booking when the website goes live.

Good luck with your visits

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

  1. Ed says:

Thanks for the heads-up. I have the app and have been waiting to see when the booking might start. Any idea what time?

    • Ian Visits says:

I was barely able to find out what day the bookings start, let along knowing what hour as well. Open House people really seemed to have kept it very hush hush this year.

    • Ed says:

Fair enough. I assumed you would have said had you have known. Just have to keep a look out tomorrow and hope it’s at a suitable time!

      Thanks again.

  2. Ed says:

Ballots appear to be live now, but not bookings (at least not for the two things I want to book).

  3. Peter of London says:

    Gone live now.. go-go-go!

  4. Paul says:

    Crystal Palace Subway

The entry for Crystal Palace Subway in the Open House Guide is incorrect, the correct details are below.
Please note there is no pre booking.

    No pre-booking for visit
Numbers in the subway are limited – there may be waiting time

  5. John B says:

Thanks for the tip-off. Tower 42, Government Art, St Pancras Clocktower and Abbey Mills so far!

  6. cheapside says:

Anyone managed to book Trellick Tower? Can’t tell if it’s gone live and I’ve missed it or whether they haven’t opened booking for it yet.

  7. cheapside says:

    Ah great thanks!

  8. Peter of London says:

Oh, and thanks again Ian for the heads up.

If I had waited for the Twitter or email from Open House I would have missed out on some nice buildings.

Would be good if they could do a ballot for any pre-book places im the future.

  9. MD says:

Thanks so much Ian, eagle eyed as ever. I always fail to get organised for Open House and this year is pleasant exception.

  10. MD says:

Can anyone find Millennium Mills? The search function isn’t working for me and i’m struggling to locate it alphabetically. I’ve tried M for millennium and R for Royal Docks.

  11. agk says:

I’ve made a simple summary with the venues and opening times linked from a single page here:

  12. Wendy SMEDLEY says:

It would help if open house emailed people on their mailing list when certain places tickets etc where going live.
I’ve been on their mailing list for many years and Open house are not very good of informing people on their email list except to tell you to pre-order their guide which I ordered 3 weeks ago, and arrived today!
It never use to be as badley organise as it is today
