Time to start planning the annual celebration of the persecution of a Papist plot to kill our Protestant Monarch. Sadly, the burning of effigies seems to be frowned upon now, although a few venues will have bonfires this year.

Thanks to a rare conjunction of the calendar and history, Bonfire Night this year will be on a Saturday, so with clever planning it can be possible to attend three firework displays, spread over the whole weekend!

If I’ve missed any (as I am bound to have), then send me a note and I’ll update the details.

Prices displayed are for purchases on the gate – some venues offer cheaper tickets if purchased in advance (shown in brackets).

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

Hi Ian – could you add our event please – it’s on a monday so good for people who might be away/busy over the weekend and want cheering up on a dark monday night. Plus it’s only £3 for adults and £2 for children for a 20 minute display set to music – all the details are on the facebook page. Thanks!
