A cluster of old buildings in Covent Garden are to become a new home for Guinness, with a microbrewery and education centre.

The £73 million ‘Guinness at Old Brewer’s Yard’ venue will create up to 150 jobs, with a microbrewery that will produce limited-edition beers and offer tours of the brewery.

There’s also likely to be a roof-top restaurant, subject to planning permission, along with the usual expectations of a shop and regular events being hosted at the site.

They expect to open the site, which sits just around the corner from Covent Garden tube station, in autumn 2023.

The Old Brewer’s Yard is owned by the Mercers’ Company, one of the City of London’s livery companies, and it owns a large chunk of Covent Garden.

According to the firm, one in ten pints sold in London is now a Guinness.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you

Old Brewer’s Yard being a fitting location!

Map’s very confusing since it omits Langley St next to the ‘Guiness Brewhouse’ and doesn’t bother labelling Neal St either.
