Update – the free art event was postponed due to the tragic incident in Croydon. It has now been rescheduled for tomorrow (22nd Nov) at the same five stations.

Next Thursday, Tomorrow (22nd Nov), if you are at a select number of tube stations, you might leave with a printed piece of artwork, as Art on the Underground has commissioned five artists to create limited edition artworks.

Sol Calero, Alexandre da Cunha, Jeremy Deller, David Shrigley and Mark Titchner have created posters that will be handed out for free to Tube passengers at Tottenham Court Road, Vauxhall, King’s Cross, Shepherds Bush and Stratford stations on Tuesday 22nd November 2016 from 7.30am.

Each station will have its own exclusive artwork, which will be a limited run of 5,000 posters.

Alongside the posters, there will also be badges and limited edition postcard sets, bringing all ten artists’ work together. 50 one-off Jeremy Deller tote bags will also be available from 7.30am to the first customers at each station.

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
