Colourful 57-metre mosaic unveiled at London Bridge station

A 57-metre long wall that snakes around the bus stop outside London Bridge station has been covered in a hand-made mosaic.

Called In a River a Thousand Streams, it’s a work of art by Adam Nathaniel Furman, and was made from 250,000 individual pieces of glass mosaic and took two years to complete. The mosaic was assembled remotely at Gospel Oak’s London School of Mosaics and then applied in blocks to the concrete wall.

Although apparently a reference to the nearby River Thames, the art is so abstract in style that you’d never guess that from just looking at it. It is, however, a very bright and joyful addition to the otherwise bland walkway between London Bridge (the bridge) and London Bridge (the station).

The only downside is that it’s only on one side of the wall, so people waiting for a bus won’t see it.
