If you’re the parent of a potential future engineer, there’s a number of behind-the-scene tours and displays taking place later this month to encourage them into the profession.

Of course, if you’re a parent interested in a tour, and able to persuade a disinterested young person to look vaguely less sulky than usual, then you’ve also got a chance for a behind-the-scene tour.

The tours are however important, as there’s a shortfall of at least 20,000 engineering graduates each year, so encouraging the next generation is increasingly important.

The tours mostly take place on Friday 28th July, and are free, but need booking in advance.

They take place across the UK, but the London venues are:

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you for this! I’m going to try and sign me (or rather my 9 year old) up for one of these. It sounds really interesting.

  2. Callum Rana says:

This sounds like an brilliant way of engaging youngsters into this field. Do you have any other events coming up to register for?

Making this enquiry on behalf of my son.

    Thanks,
    Jas
