Guided Walk - History of Medicine
London's oldest hospital, this walk lasts 1 1/2 - 2 hours and will take you though over 2000 years of medicine. Hear about health and treatment through the ages, including how the Romans performed surgery, the grisly trade of bodysnatching, and how the plague affected this part of London.
During this walk you’ll see some of the City’s oldest buildings and hidden gems and discover how the health and illness of the people who lived here over the centuries has left its mark on the City we see today and our current medical and surgical practices.
The walk is led by a qualified City of London and City of Wesminster guide, and starts from The Square of St Bartholomew's Hospital, Smithfield
