The Oracular Sanctuary of Apollo at Abai
The ancient Greek historian Herodotos described the sanctuary of Apollo at Abai as being of Panhellenic and international importance. Already in existence by the 14th century BC, it functioned without interruption down to Roman times. Its rich finds provide important evidence for continuity of cult in the ‘Dark Age’ and unique insights into Greek religious practices.
Followed by a glass of wine.
