Ever wonder how old your local pub or church is? This talk will show you how to find out.

Many of us have walked our local streets and wondered how old the pub, manor house, church or shop is. Some of us have even pondered the history of our own homes. Others have gazed at a film and been curious to learn more about the building used on set. This talk delves into how we can date, phase and unpick the archaeology of standing buildings. It will be useful and entertaining for anyone with an interest in the built environment, history, archaeology and folklore.

James Wright is an award-winning buildings archaeologist. He has two decades professional experience of ferreting around in people’s cellars, hunting through their attics and digging up their gardens. He hopes to find meaningful truths about how ordinary and extraordinary folk lived their lives in the mediaeval period.
