Description

A major new exhibition which is the culmination of a 3 year Heritage Lottery funded project showcasing the finest examples from the collection of 22,000 building plans held by the Local Studies Library. They comprise the records of the former local government authorities which constitute the present London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. These plans have been accessioned and catalogued by the Local Studies Volunteer Support Group.

The collection of plans, which date from 1880 to the 1960s, illustrates the built history of the towns and villages of Richmond upon Thames from workmen’s cottages and dairies to grand theatres and large housing estates.

A small selection is on display in the Museum of Richmond and the complementary exhibition at Orleans House Gallery, although many more may be viewed on line at http://www.calmview.eu/Richmond/Calmview
