What better for the tube geek than to drift off to sleep with the comforting glow of a London Underground roundel keeping the monsters away.
From today, the London Transport Museum shop will be selling these TfL licenced London Underground Lightboxes, which also come with 10 interchangeable station signs, including the classic ‘Mind The Gap’ slogan.
They are sold as a battery powered free-standing or wall-mountable lamp and cost £40 each.
Update: Been informed that they are also powered by a USB cable which is included so it can be run from a computer, or suitable mains power adapter. They’re also sold out, but more stocks are on the way in a few days.
Additional interchangeable signs included with the lamp are Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, Waterloo, Oxford Circus & Kings Cross St. Pancras.
The lamp’s dimensions: Height 28cm, depth 5cm, width 36cm
On sale from today at the London Transport Museum shop
I cannot think of much more horrid and dismal. The train company which has millions of corporate workers in bondage every week and get off on it.
Calm down, it’s only a light. #realproblemsintheworld
That is life for a lot of everyday people. It’s what makes a city. We’re lucky we have so many options in London.
U OK hun?
Will have to wait until Angel is available…..
“Corporate workers in bondage.” What does that even mean?!
What’s wrong with Mudchute ?
It’s not a tube station for a start.
Thanks Ian.
I’m sure these lights make a handsome profit for the museum but I’ll likely buy one.
Hopefully on day they’ll sell custom (and solar-powered) versions with one’s own choice of tube station.
I want one. Im a big Underground fan.
