Ever fancied getting into the train driver’s seat and seeing things from a new perspective?
Well now’s your chance to experience Underground trains from the driver’s cab, in a variety of static vehicles ranging from 1927to 1986 – including the recently decommissioned A Stock.
Sadly, the trains will be stationary, inside the depot — but it’s still a rare chance to see things from an alternative perspective.
These events are suitable for ages 16+ only.
They take place on Friday 17th June and Saturday 16th July, and tickets cost £24.
In related news, there is a chance to drive a steam train along the Epping Ongar railway, although that costs a bit more – at £395 per person.
Alternatively, if you are feeling so minded, there is a sort of drivers cab experience available in the heart of London — in a disused train based in the basement of Hamleys.
And finally, once a year, the public are allowed up to the disused tube trains in Shoreditch during Open House Weekend, where you can sit in the drivers cab, and overlook a steep precipice.
Or you could go to Mangapps Farm Railway & Museum near Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex.
Among many other interesting things, you can sit in the cab of an old Underground train.
