A large (possibly) art (maybe) event based around fire is taking place next month at Battersea Power Station.

We are told that “globes of fire and thousands of points of flickering flame will illuminate the Power Station as musicians play a mix of old-style Parisian music with moody improvised sounds.”

The Fire Garden is described as an illuminating, artistic tribute, delivered on a monumental scale, to Battersea Power Station before it is closed for redevelopment.

The Fire Garden is a free but ticketed event — and tickets will be issued via a free public ballot. Winners will be picked at random and notified by email.

If you want to apply, then click here.

The event itself takes place on Fri 5 & Sat 6 Sep, 6.30pm – 10.30pm

Some other Totally Thames events that need booking include:

Archaeological Walks — various locations along the Thames foreshore.

River Fleet with Paul Talling – above ground walk along the route of the river.

River Westbourne with Paul Talling – as above, for a different hidden river.

River Tyburn with Tom Bolton – as above, different river, and different guide.

Walk the Tidal Thames – a 3-mile walk out by Erith along the tidal flats

Behind the Scenes at Tower Lifeboat Station – rare chance to see inside the RNIB’s London base

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
