As part of their support for this year’s London Festival of Architecture, Berkeley Group are offering the opportunity to see behind the scenes at a number of their key development sites across London.
(There were four, but one has already “sold out”)
Each open evening includes a tour of the site, a discussion session with the architects and project team, followed by light refreshments.
All events are free, but places are limited so book now to secure your space.
Dickens Yard, Ealing – book here
Thursday 5 June: 18:30 – 20:00
This is a key site in the centre of Ealing. A 4-acre former council car park is being transformed into a mixed use development with shops and restaurants, and 698 new homes.
Royal Arsenal Riverside, Woolwich – book here
Wednesday 25 June: 18:00 – 20:30
Berkeley are launching new research about place-making at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich. This is one of the biggest regeneration projects in Britain, creating 5,000 homes over more than 20 years on the site of a factory that armed the British forces during World War 1. Restored and refurbished Georgian listed buildings now sit next to contemporary apartment blocks, a café, pub and museum beside the river.
Come and debate the findings of the social sustainability report, which measures people’s quality of life on a new development. A private tour of this new London community on an early summer evening and see how investment in transport can unlock new housing.
Riverlight and The Albert Embankment – book here
Thursday 26 June: 18:30 – 20:00
Come and visit the Riverlight development to discuss designs for two new St James schemes emerging on the Albert Embankment: Merano and the Corniche. These sites are part of Nine Elms on the South Bank, the largest regeneration programme in Britain.
A preview of the three developments and a debate with the architects and developer. What are the challenges of regeneration on this scale? And can we put great architecture at the heart of a new cultural district for the capital?
