It seems that Charing Cross railway station is having a bit of a birthday party this Saturday (12th April) to mark 150 years of operations.
As readers may recall, the 150th anniversary actually took place on January 11th, so this is a bit of a belated party, but at least someone is doing something at last to mark the occasion.
According to the Southern Electric Group, there will be:
- Kentish Farmers Market with local produce on sale
- Charing Cross staff in period dress
- A commemorative plaque will be unveiled by a celebrity
- The new waiting room will be showing off its mural, which has been created by a student from Leigh Academy in Dartford
A walking tours event will also carry out 1 hour guided tours around the are on the day at a cost of £10 per person.
Tours at:
- 11am
- 1:15pm
- 3:30pm
- 5:45pm
To book a place on a tour please email info@londondetours.com with what time slot you would like and the size of your group.
I’ve only just noticed it, and only because I was Google searching for something different and the headline caught my attention — so either the organisers hope no one turns up, or, more likely, their marketing sucks.
But will there be a tour of the church?
Well done john b, you beat me to it with that question!
Maybe its safest not to believe anything Ian writes anymore!
