A Festival of Winter Walks

Starting tomorrow, and running through to the New Year, the Ramblers Association is holding its annual festival of winter walks – an opportunity to lure in prospective new members and for the rest of us, to force ourselves to walk off some of the Xmas excesses.

Last year, it was quite a major event, with sponsorship and a rather fine website. This year, the website is not as easy to drill down to the key information.

That said, although I personally prefer rambling alone, as an often quite lazy person who might wake up one morning and say “sod it”, I do find organised events a very good way of committing myself to getting out and rambling.

A look at their website shows a number of walks happening in the London area. The walks are free, and most are just turn up and go.
