A few days ago I noticed that the Goodyear Blimp is back over London again and wondered how long it would be here for and if there were any specific events it would be hovering over. There might have been something to add to the events diary.

A look at their website delivered no information about their timetable, but did give me a contact address for the company – so, thinking you would be as interested as I am, I sent off a quick email.

The reply:

Thank you for your interest in the Goodyear blimp. The blimp is a Goodyear icon, with many blimps flying around the world, and it is currently being used as part of our marketing campaign in the UK.

Erm, thanks, I didn’t ask what it is, just where it will be.

So they suggest that I go back to the website that I got their email address from and had nothing on it about a timetable, and try again – which I did. Still nothing.

So sorry, no idea how long the Blimp will be around London for or if there are any specific things to look out for. You’ll just have to check their website. If they ever bother updating it.

Yes, it was just a copy/paste reply, but what annoys is that it didn’t even try to address the question I asked. If the answer is “sorry, we don’t actually know” or variants thereof, why not just say so? Instead they sent me back to a website that they should have known wont contain the information I wanted.

    seams to me like they need a PR person who actually knows what’s going on, rather than just in it for the money – It may just be a floating advertising board but she’s also an icon.

    I guess she goes where the wind takes her… would be a better answer by email đŸ™‚

    They can’t even get their own Twitter address right on their website. It’s @goodyear_uk, not @GoodyearUK.
