A few left overs from last week’s mad rush to book tickets for the London Open House Weekend, as booking opens today for the tours of the BT Tower and also bus-tours of the Olympic Park.
BT Tower
Tours on Sat (noon-6pm) and Sun (10am-3:30pm) and last about 30 minutes.
A random draw ballot opens on this website today (Mon 15 Aug) and closes Mon 12 Sept at 5pm.
Give full names, addresses, email and phone number of all attendees in application; successful applicants ONLY notified in writing and this will be the ticket for entry.
You cannot specify which date/time you want, nor change the details later – which may totally screw up any other events you have pre-booked if you are lucky to get a ticket.

Olympic Park
Tours on Sat and Sun – but the week BEFORE Open House, so takes place on 10 & 11 September
Maximum of 6 people per group booking. A minimum age of 8 years will apply.
Pre-book ONLY from 15 August – on 0300 2012 550.
Note – the tour starts from closer to Leyton tube station rather than from Stratford tube station.
Also worth noting that bus tours take place most days anyway, although there is a long waiting list for those. Call the ODA booking line on 0300 2012 001 for details.
I went on the Olympic Park bus tour last weekend, and when I booked it (some months previously), the booking line had only been taking weekend bookings, and seemed to suggest that ours would be the final one they’d be able to run – other than the Open Weekend.
Curious. I was chatting to one of the organiser types at another event a few weeks ago and they thought the tours would be ongoing.
Confusion reigns!
The main booking phone line – 0300 2012 001 – says they are fully booked until the end of September and are not accepting bookings for October yet, but will take callers’ details and let them know when (if?) additional dates will be available.
Oh, needless to say, the Open House bookings went like hot cakes and they are fully booked – http://www.london2012.com/press/media-releases/2009/08/olympic-park-opens-its-doors-to-4-000-londoners-for-open-house-weekend-2009.php
