Just had a note from the company churning up chunks of the West End that they have a photography competition as they would like some nice photos to put on their building site barriers to make them a bit more appealing.

Crossrail, for it is they, are looking for “photos that represent the colourful Soho community, its people, fashion, eateries, businesses, nightlife and rich history.

Selected photographs will then be displayed along Dean Street and Great Chapel Street in Soho, and may also feature on the Crossrail website.

Although no prizes are on offer, eternal fame and glory awaits* as your name will be put on the photos for everyone to admire your brilliance.

So, if you see people wandering round one evening in fancy clothes and holding glasses of wine while pointing at a the blue wooden walls that surround Crossrail, that’ll probably be the preview night party.

Technicals:

Submit a digital file to photos@crossrail.co.uk by midnight on 21 August 2011. All photos should be at least 7 megapixels in size.

Provide your full name, your contact details and a short caption for the photo. Please also state (in the email ‘subject’ field) if you are entering the Under 16s category or the Adult category.

Winners will be advised by Tuesday 30 August 2011.

The T&Cs are here, and don’t look too objectionable – and unlike some photography competitions, you get to keep the copyright to your own photo.

*might be just a few months. Sorry.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, it doesn't cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It's very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.

If you like what you read on here, then please support the website here.

Thank you
