London is not particularly charitable survey doesn’t say

For my work, I need to keep an eye on BT press statements, and as a heavy user of RSS to monitoring websites, their press releases come though to me automatically.

Actually, RSS is quite important in this situation as the BT website makes it (seemingly) impossible to get a simple page listing all their latest press releases in one place. Are they hiding something?

Yesterday, over a period of several hours, a series of regional statements were issued all very similar and covering a different part of the country. Quite commonplace – if rather annoying – for companies to spit out nearly identical statements for each region instead of a single national release (glares at Network Rail).

However, have a look at the list and see who is missing.

Erm, where’s London?

You might suspect they wrapped London in with the South-East, but they separated out Manchester and Birmingham, so that is unlikely to be the reason.

Is London being overlooked because Londoners would rather shove a chugger under the nearest bus than have to put up with yet another artificially cheerful Australian trying to get hold of our bank details?

…or is it that the rest of the South-East is incredibly tight fisted and needed to have London’s generosity wrapped up in their figures to look sensible?

  1. Perhaps the less drunk we are, the less we give. A beer’d up geordie with his kebab may ‘love’ that Australian chugger and throw all his loose change in the bucket, but I bet he curses himself the next morning for ‘spending so much on rounds.’
