I walked this trail from W to E many years ago while a student, while it was still just a disused railway track. Vivid memories of walking through the tunnels in pitch dark with no torch (totally unprepared!) and cracking shins on abandoned wagon axles left on the ballast.
Tragic that the tunnels are now closed off - most exhilarating part of the whole adventure! Must try and get onto one of these excursions for old times' sake.

Sounds good, think I might have to try that.

I love the Monsal Trail, especially in spring. Definitely one of my favourite walks.
